ABOUT US

Our Purpose Statement:
It is the aim of Portadown Baptist Church, Thomas Street,
to glorify God by loving Him and sharing His love with others as we:
• WORSHIP the Lord Together
• WALK in the Light Together
• WITNESS to The Lost Together

We believe that the Bible contains the answers to life's most important questions: “Who is God?” “Why am I here?” “Were will I go when my life is over?”

The Bible teaches that forgiveness of sins, peace with God and a purpose for living can only be found through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The Bible also says that a changed heart will result in a transformed life that will be evident to all.

Why not join us this Sunday morning at 11.00am for our main gathering of the week. Whether you wish to come as a family or on your own, we can assure you that you will be made most welcome.

Thomas Street
The first Baptist Church in Portadown was established in Bridge Street, in 1864. A new church was then formed in 1924 in the “Catch my Pall Hall” in Edward Street.

The building in Thomas Street was built in 1926 and was renovated and extended in 1976, 1982. Due to increasing numbers, the old building was demolished and a new larger building was opened in 1990, seating 500.

There are approximately 120 Baptist Churches in Ireland with a membership of 8,000 and around 20,000 in regular attendance.

Portadown Baptist Church, Thomas Street belongs to the Association of Baptist Churches in Ireland. Their offices are located together with the Baptist College and Baptist Missions on the Hillsborough Road, Moira,

Our Brownstown Hall
In 1989 we acquired the old Metal Box canteen on the Brownstown Road. This hall is an extension of the ministry in Thomas Street and facilitates its own Boys & Girls Club, Sunday School, Parent & Toddler group and a monthly Saturday night evangelistic meeting called ‘The Open Door’ (1st Sat. of the month, 7.45pm).
